A stripe is defined as a long narrow band, mark, or streak, differing in color, texture, or material from the surrounding material or surface.
A stripe pattern is defined as a textile design of parallel bands or lines on a contrasting background. The parallel bands can all have the the same color, width, and texture with the same spacing or any combination of bands in any order and spacing.
The same repeat of width and spacing of bands can produce many different stripe patterns, depending on the colors and thread textures chosen for each band.
