Canvas and Linen

Some stitchers prefer to create their own needlepoint painted canvas designs on blank needlepoint canvas. Others prefer to work from charted designs. Alex-Paras NeedleArts offers a variety of blank canvases suited for creating your own design. Professional designers select from different gauges depending on how the project should look. An 18 mesh canvas will provide more detail, but the 13 mesh canvas is easier to see. Another type of canvas is Congress cloth which comes in 22 or 24 count evenweave for painting beautiful detailed designs. Of the three types of canvas: mono, penelope, and interlock, the best type for hand-painted needlework is the mono. Mono canvas comes in a wide variety and has a wide range of manipulation. Penelope has two threads grouped together, but they can be split apart also. The sizing will often reference two numbers, like 10/20. Alex-Paras NeedleArts offers a full range of blank canvas.
